Man in £200,000 claim after neighbour’s dog bit his hand

A man who was bitten as he helped a vet carry a sick dog has begun proceedings to claim up to £200,000.

Anthony Warrior, 63, was injured so badly after his neighbour’s German shepherd bit his left hand that he was forced to give up HGV driving.

He is claiming damages against Medivet Group claiming the vet failed to muzzle or sedate the dog properly and then asked for help moving it to his van.

In a writ lodged at the High Court, Mr Warrior, from Hockley, Essex, said he was exposed to “foreseeable risk of injury” resulting in “pain and suffering, loss and damage” when the vet, known as Mr Berg, asked him and his son to assist in moving the pet.

The wound became infected and left his hand permanently damaged and scarred.

The claim states that Mr Berg chose not to use a stretcher and did not administer enough morphine to sedate the dog.

It also claims that Medivet failed to ensure that Mr Berg was adequately trained.
