Man hit by train at West Hampstead station

A man has died after being hit by a train at West Hampstead railway station this morning.

Emergency services were called to an incident at the station on the Thameslink line just after 7am.

All Thameslink and East Midland trains running through the station were cancelled for more than an hour while the incident was being dealt with.

A London Ambulance spokesman confirmed they were called to an incident at the station but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A British Transport Police spokesman confirmed the death is not currently being treated as suspicious.

Officers are now working to identify the deceased and inform his family.

London’s second busiest railway station, Victoria, has also closed seven of its 19 platforms for the entire day following a signal failure between Victoria and Clapham Junction.

The disruption at Victoria is expected to last the entire day due to the seriousness of the fault.
