London weather: Londoners wake up to sunny Spring ... and warm temperatures forecast for March

Warmer weather conditions are on the way as Londoners enjoyed the first day of Spring over the weekend.

Yesterday marked the first official day of Spring and forecasters have said the capital will be treated to a lot of dry weather for most of the week.

The Met Office said there are more likely to be drier and brighter conditions for most of the southeast, while the weekend will see a change towards more settled weather.

A spokesman said there may be occasional outbreaks of rain, but temperatures are “likely to be slightly above average by day”.

Forecasters said pressure will remain high for the second half of March across the south of the UK.

Any chance of prolonged wet and windy weather is “fairly small” and long-awaited warmer temperatures will remain close to average, although there may be some frost in the evenings.
