London Underground lines suspended amid Grenfell Tower safety concerns

Two Tube lines in west London have been partly suspended amid Grenfell Tower safety concerns.

The Hammersmith and City and Circle lines have been halted at the request of the London Fire Brigade, Transport for London said.

The LFB confirmed the closure was due to the "short-term" risk of debris falling from the building onto the track.

People are reportedly being turned away from stations and told to seek alternative routes.

A TfL spokeswoman told the Standard: “There is no service on the Circle line between Edgware Road and Hammersmith at to the request of the London Fire Brigade due to the recent fire in the Latimer Road area.

“The Hammersmith and City line is also part suspended between Edgware Road and Hammersmith.

“There is no service between Aldgate and Edgware Road on the Circle Line due to planned engineering works.

“Tickets are being accepted on London buses.”
