London office workers 'not getting enough fresh air and daylight'

More than a third of London office workers say the poor design of their workplace gives them “sick building syndrome”, new research claims.

Only two fifths of 1,000 employees said they get enough fresh air during the day and less than half feel they get enough access to natural light. The poll found 35 per cent felt unhealthy at their main place of employment.

The research, carried out by YouGov for property group Lendlease, revealed around half said they would be more likely to choose an employer with more focus on staff health and welfare.

Research last month at the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health found workers in offices with good ventilation and below average indoor pollutant levels did better in tests of skills such as developing a strategy.
