London Marathon runners are hailing this weekend's weather forecast "perfect," as it is set to remain dry and cool with sunny spells.
With race day now almost upon us, many runners will be frantically checking the forecast every day for favourable conditions. And it appears as though they may be in luck.
Temperatures are expected to be mild for most of the day on Sunday, sitting between 10C and 15C, with an expected high of 17C in the evening.
Most runners can expect mild conditions as they travel around the course, without the added pressure of having to battle strong winds or heavy rain.
Chances of rain remain low, at around 10 per cent, with winds reaching highs of 27mph.
This should come as welcome news following last year's event, which saw a mini-heatwave hit the capital with temperatures soaring to 21C.
Many participants struggled in the heat, with some having to make additional stops for water or for emergency assistance along the route due to overheating.
Some runners have taken to social media to praise the “perfect” conditions, with one person saying “Good running weather indeed”, although some are still hoping for it to be slightly cooler than predicted.
There’s still time for conditions to change, but the Met Office has predicted a wave of high pressure is likely to sweep across the UK in the next couple of weeks.
For the rest of this week, it is likely to remain dry with sunny spells, although temperatures will remain fairly low.
Temperatures are expected to reach a peak of 19C on Thursday and Friday, before falling to 17C on Saturday and Sunday.
