The letter to Sir Vernon Ellis, president of the board of trustees, supports suggestions that a rift prompted Mr Rose to resign as chairman last week, only two years into the post.
Mr Berry today refused to respond to the criticisms, but an ENO spokesman said: “The idea we’ve lost £10 million is not true.” He said the Arts Council was expected to sign off shortly on new business plans and award £7.5 million in transitional funding.
An Arts Council spokesman gave no timeframe for the extra funding, but said: “The Arts Council is working with ENO to review their business plan for 2015-18.”
