Cereal Killer Cafe to open new branches in Middle East

The hipster twins who run London’s Cereal Killer Café are expanding into the Middle East by opening a branch in Dubai.

Views on Alan and Gary Keery’s cafes have proved divisive since the first one opened in Brick Lane back in 2014, swiftly followed by a Camden branch.

Stocking 120 different cereals, 30 kinds of milk and charging up to £4.40 for a bowl, the Brick Lane outlet was the scene of anti-gentrification protests last year.

But, despite the controversy, the pair that they were on the brink of expanding internationally with talks in Jordan, Lebanon and a licensing deal already signed in Dubai.

Alan Keery, 33, said: “We’ve had huge interest from across the Middle East about setting up branches out there.

“We get a lot of people coming in from the Middle East. One of the sheikhs of Dubai came into the café.

“They don’t have a big drinking culture. We hang out in bars, they hang out in cafés.

"They’re loving it because it’s like a dessert.”
