Mexico cancer treatment gives hope to six-year-old boy

A boy with a rare cancer who flew half way round the world for treatment has astonished his family by showing signs of recovery.

Six-year-old Mitchell Huth, who has neuroblastoma, went to Mexico after chemotherapy failed to shrink his tumours.

He had photodynamic therapy at Hope 4 Cancer centre in Playas de Tijuana last month.

It is understood the largest growth, on his skull, has shrunk by 30 per cent, and he has been able to walk.

Family friend Natalie Galluzzo said: “It appears to be working. Mitchell is a real fighter.”

Photodynamic therapy uses natural light to help treat the disease.

The family has raised more than £50,000 to install a light therapy room at his Hornchurch home.
