The school is so popular with locals its headmaster, Thomas Packer, received a spontaneous standing ovation when he walked into a crowded local pub recently.
Now its founders are hoping to open a primary school in 2013, which will feed into the secondary school.
Already 175 parents have expressed a strong interest in the 60 places the potential school would offer, but more interest is needed before it can be given the go-ahead.
Prospective parents are invited to sign an online petition on the school's website to register their interest in a place for their child.
Mr Young revealed he planned to open another secondary school if demand for places continued to grow.
He said: "If it continues to be as popular as it's proved to be we'll have no choice but to open another school in the borough."
