What is happening today? Comic Relief is giving a £1 million boost to the Evening Standard Dispossessed Fund. We are making this money available to charitable groups tackling poverty and inequality across the capital in grants of between £5,000 and £20,000 each.
Who can apply? To be eligible, charities will have income of less than £250,000 per annum, have been active in their local area for at least 12 months and be working to lift people out of poverty in one of the following areas: tackling educational disadvantage; getting people into work; fighting gangs, knife and gun crime; improving mental and physical health or addressing other manifestations of poverty such as homelessness, pensioner poverty and working poor.
What has the Dispossessed Fund achieved so far? Since its launch five years ago the fund has raised £13.46 million. So far £7.7 million has been given out in 842 grants, helping more than 130,000 people across the capital.

The fund and the grant application process is managed by The London Community Foundation. Please DO NOT call the newspaper. The deadline for applications is 5pm on May 8.
