Stockwell murder: Probe launched after woman, in her 20s, stabbed to death in south London

A man has been arrested after a young woman was stabbed to death in south London.

Police found the victim, believed to be in her twenties, with knife wounds after they were called to reports of a disturbance at a home on Clapham Road, Lambeth just after 9pm on Sunday.

Despite the efforts of officers and paramedics she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives are working to identify and inform her next of kin.

A 27-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody.

He and the woman were known to each other, Scotland Yard said.

A post-mortem examination of the victim is scheduled to take place on Tuesday.

Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding her death continue.
