A man arrested on suspicion of murder in Dagenham has been “de-arrested”, the Metropolitan Police said.

However, police now believe the woman died of natural causes.

This follows a post-mortem carried out on Tuesday.

The 75-year-old man has now been released.

A Met spokesperson said: “Detectives investigating the death of a 70-year-old woman in Dagenham believe she is likely to have died of natural causes.

“The woman was found dead at the property on Boulton Road on Sunday, 14 June.

“A post-mortem examination carried out on Tuesday, 16 June provisionally found that the death was a result of natural causes.

“A 75-year-old man who had been arrested at the property has since been de-arrested.

“Officers will continue to carry out enquiries before passing a file to the Coroner.”
