Do you want to be a dirty girl? Putting moisturiser on clogged, mucky skin is like turning your T-shirt (clearly I mean knickers) inside out. In the end you’re not fresh. You’re not doing yourself any favours. You’re letting yourself down. You know it and I know it and so does everybody else.
But this column is not about shame. It is about possibility. Opportunity. Cleanser. And I have found… a find. Used in partnership with a cleansing brush (I have recently stumbled upon Mary Kay’s budget version, which is a winner; Skinvigorate Cleansing Brush, £35, marykay.co.uk), this rose and camomile-scented unguent seems to give skin therapy (‘Let’s talk about why you feel so much shame’) while thoroughly ridding it of impurities. The bare face that emerges is fresh and glowy and oh so soft. No scrubbed rawness and yet no smudgy clouds on the pillow or under the eyes the next morning. Because a panda-eyed walk of shame without having anything to be actually ashamed of is a bit pointless. All dirty girls know that.
