Do you have a nickname?
My coach calls me ‘The Haze’.

Where’s home?
A flat in Edgbaston, Birmingham. I like to be in the thick of it and not too close to the track.

What’s your best moment to date?
Winning the heptathlon gold at the Commonwealth Games in 2010. It was completely overwhelming.

What’s your goal for the Olympics?
To break through to the top eight heptathletes in the world.

Do you have a pre-race beauty regime?
On competition day I call it warpaint, it’s the mask you wear to go out to battle. I moisturise and then put on some Laura Mercier Illuminator, MAC foundation, blusher and eyebrow pencil.

What’s your ideal pre-race meal?
A bowl of Alpen, cherry yoghurt and a banana.

Do you have any pre-race rituals?
I put my kit on – my running knickers and top – the night before and do some visualisation.

What’s on your training playlist?
I do like a bit of Beyoncé. I’m a big fan of Motown classics and I love Marvin Gaye.

What’s your worst habit when training?
I’m a chatterbox. I grew up in a pub so that’s probably where it came from.

Do you have a secret superfood?
Blueberries.

What food do you tend to avoid?
I eat everything in moderation. I love fruit and veg. Chips are my guilty pleasure.

How do you unwind?
I like to go to professional boxing matches. I enjoy the social side of it and watching someone else do the work for a change.

You’re a big tweeter. Who is your favourite sporting personality on Twitter?
The person who makes me laugh the most is Iwan Thomas (@Iwanrunner) – he’s on there constantly. It’s like another job for him; he should be sponsored by Twitter.
