The Thompson Hotel group just opened its first Miami outpost with the Thompson Miami Beach on Collins Avenue. For the full-on glamour associated with the Florida city, the revamped 380-room hotel mixes art deco and Fifties architecture, with interiors by Martin Brudniziki — whose luxurious designs have graced Nick Jones’ s neighbouring Soho Beach House here in Miami, as well as Le Caprice in New York and the Dean Street Townhouse in London.
Polished woods, vintage brass and colourful florals keep a retro feel in rooms and suites, with mini bars stocked with classic cocktail ingredients.
Tropical gardens, landscaped by local architect Raymond Jungles, with ocean views hold two palm tree-lined strips of swimming pools.
