The much anticipated W Verbier opens next month on December 1 — the first ski resort for the funky and luxury Starwood brand. They’ve embraced their surroundings with 123 rooms and suites nodding to the traditional alpine chalet style including fireplaces and balconies, but with a twist.
Echoing the carve of a ski or snowboard, rooms are “carved” in half with carpets dividing the room into its two halves — modern and traditional — courtesy of Dutch designers Concrete (responsible for the W London and citizen M hotels).
Two Michelin-starred Spanish chef Sergi Arola will create a tapas-style menu with a Swiss twist and the destination bar called CARVE (naturally) will have a resident DJ. Instead of W’s usual cult-brand Bliss spa, the W Verbier will have an AWAY Spa, using French brand Gemology, with steam room, whirlpool and indoor-outdoor pool deck.
