A few hours on and we are back in our hotel, which has cosy rooms and log cabins to stay in, warming up in our personal sauna. We’re in the Eagles View Suite, newly built this year, which is set over two rustically furnished floors with a log fire. A tree thrusts up dramatically through the centre of the split-level room. Much of the suite is made of glass, affording mesmeric 150-degree views over Syöte National Park that stretches away to the horizon. At night, you can see the stars through the glass ceiling above the circular bed. Later, as I sip a glass of champagne in the Jacuzzi, for a moment I am P Diddy.
