The 11-room French Catalan farm (or mas) offers rustic medieval character in the form of ivy-clad stone walls and beamed ceilings, and the 300-year-old fireplace in the library, while hybrid eco technology includes 70 per cent of the estate's energy drawn from sustainable supplies, solar panels, a wind farm and a reforestation plan to re-introduce rare cork oak trees.
The grounds hold a natural swimming pool, while boules and mountain bikes are provided free of charge. Nearby is the town of Ceret, which inspired Picasso, Chagall and Matisse, whose paintings are on display at the nearby Museum of Modern Art. The nearest airport is Perpignan, one hour away.
