Unfortunately the new spa was closed for refurbishment or I would have been there. Now newly open, it offers Li'TYA treatments based on Aboriginal traditions.
Instead, I indulged my stomach with breakfast in a large, light room with windows on to the Victorian kitchen garden.
The sausages were almost too good, in that their purity made their consistency pâté-like, which coupled with the creamy scrambled egg, made for a rich start to the day.
The garden is an integral part of the hotel - not just aesthetically but also by providing Jerusalem artichokes, broad beans, peas, wild rocket and more.
But it's not all practical - it also has a croquet lawn. We took a turn around it after breakfast, admiring the old cedar and ash trees, modern sculptures and roses.
It felt as if we were in someone's garden - albeit someone with a Michelin-starred chef in the house and the world's most comfortable bed. Now that would be someone worth visiting again.
