Congratulations on the forthcoming event. Mauritius in July is ideal - this luxurious island, with a friendly and diverse population, is
at its best. But getting married on Mauritius is a touch complicated: start planning now if you are to clear all the bureaucratic hurdles.
I'd suggest staying close to the colourful capital, Port Louis, such as at the Labourdonnais on the waterfront within an easy stroll of all the city's attractions. But you may prefer to make an escape to somewhere such as the Taj Exotica -
in a secluded coastal location about 10 miles from the capital.
I strongly recommend you book a package, which means that if anything - from strikes to volcanic ash - goes wrong, the tour operator has to sort it out. The lowest prices may be from online operators; Opodo.co.uk has a week at the Labourdonnais for around £1,600pp, with Air France flights; it will cost a couple of hundred pounds more on Air Mauritius or BA non-stop flights from Heathrow (Virgin Atlantic has abandoned the route). Wait until you land before changing money.
