This street-food truck was in early on the trend for US-style macaroni cheese, a richer, yummier version of the dish we had in the UK. Anna Mae’s offers pulled pork, hot wings, sloppy joes and its legendary mac ’n’ cheese (£5.50), to which you can add toppings such as bacon, jalapeños or even hot dog for an extra 50p. Deep in the middle of a casino, this is quite a mad restaurant, but the food is surprisingly good. And where else can you order lobster fish fingers or millionaire’s mac & cheese — a huge portion of creamy macaroni cheese, topped with huge flakes of truffle (£28 for two to share).

For hungry ladies who lunch

With its leather booths, dark wood and white tiles, this American-style brasserie seems more like a Parisian restaurant from around the turn of the 20th century. Lush yourself up with truffle on your macaroni cheese, or just go for a little bacon or spinach in the mix (main with truffle £18, plain £12, add spinach or bacon for £1).
