For a DIY dinner

This is a traditional Korean restaurant complete with tabletop grills if you fancy a DIY barbecue. Bulgogi (an umami-rich marinade) beef and chicken are delicious, but make sure you taste the yukhoe bibimbap (£9.90) — delicious, finely chopped raw beef. Bibimbap dishes are served in a hot stone bowl with rice and vegetables.

For a street snack

KIMCHI CULT

The pair behind this street-food stand lived in Korea for several years. Try the beef with kimchi (fermented vegetables — a description that doesn’t do it justice), Korea’s national dish (£5.50-£6.50). Next year they’re bringing back their Mexican-Korean fusion burger with jalapeños and guacamole at a month-long pop-up at The Black Heart pub in Camden.

For a smart supper

This sleek and friendly restaurant is always busy and is a good place to try Korea’s rich and spicy flavours. You can get a great yukhoe (£9.50) here — raw beef with a raw egg yolk on top, like a Korean version of steak tartare. Or try samsaek milssam: green, white and yellow rice-flour pancakes filled with beef or veg (£7.30).
