Verdict: Daisy's firing on all cylinders -but will need some scandal of her own to eclipse Moss's star 9/10

ROSIE HUNTINGTON-WHITELEY, 24
Who? The great grand-daughter of Sir Herbert Huntington-Whiteley, first baronet. She's posh totty with a Polish background; grew up on a farm in Devon, where she was bullied by the kids at school for having a flat chest.

Model credentials: Like Kate Moss, her career in front of the camera began with a jeans ad, in her case Levi's rather than Calvin Klein, and her catwalk debut was with Naomi Campbell. Since then her willowy frame and pillow lips have topped every sexiest poll going. From Victoria's Secret modelling, Rosie is set to star in the new Transformers film.

Lovers: Actors, models and rockers. Firstly, Tyrone Wood, then Kylie's ex, the smouldering Frenchman Olivier Martinez, and now Kelly Brook's former squeeze, actor Jason Statham.

Hellraising: At first, Huntington-Whiteley looked promisingly scandalous. In 2005, she was dropped by Burberry after pictures surfaced of her holding a bong used to smoke cannabis at a party with fellow models Jennifer Pugh and Aleksandra Rastovich. It was the same year the fashion power house had dropped Moss for her cocaine scandal. Disappointingly, a clean record sheet since then.

Celeb connections: model Candice Swanepoel is a friend, while she and Jason are close to Sarah Harding and her DJ fiancé Tom Crane.

Verdict: More Gisele than Moss. 4/10

ALEXA CHUNG, 27
Who? Hampshire-born daughter of
Chinese-English graphic designer Paul and housewife Gillian, Chung has two older brothers and a sister and with three A-levels (two As and a B) she turned down a place to read English at King's College, London, to be a model.

Model credentials: She signed to Storm at 16 but quit modelling for television where she found fame disparaging pop stars. Has since become the face of DKNY Jeans and was made the first celebrity face of Lacoste in 2010. Mulberry named its Alexa Satchel, which sells for £785, after the presenter. The bag helped the brand to quadruple its profits in 2010 -dubbed the Alexa Effect. Vogue editor Anna Wintour described her as a "phenomenon".

Lovers: Like Moss, Alexa likes musicians - and she doesn't mind how dishevelled they get in the name of art. Brit rockers Ian Watkins from the Lostprophets, James Righton of Klaxons fame and Horrors frontman Faris Baldwin are past conquests but for now she's quit the dating jungle for Arctic Monkeys singer Alex Turner.

Hellraising: She may have the heroin chic physique but she describes her style as boarding school bad girl meets grandma chic. And that description can be applied to her private life, too. Chung and Turner prefer nights in to red carpet events. She says: "I don't do drugs. I've never ever tried coke."

Celeb Connections: In London, Daisy, Peaches and Agyness Deyn are her BFFs (Best Friends Forever) but since launching MTV show It's On With Alexa Chung stateside, her Christmas card list has become much more Hollywood.

Verdict: A rock chick who can match Kate on the catwalk, if not at the after party. 7/10.

THE LING SISTERS: EVANGELINE 15, BIP 25
Who? Model daughters of fashion illustrator Tanya Ling, "one of Britain's most important trendsetters", and William Ling, owner of Fashion Illustration Gallery. Bip is the seriously hip blogger, DJ and model, and girl about town who parties with D&G models.

Model credentials: Bip grew up in London and studied art at Central Saint Martins and tends to do slightly surreal shoots. Her Rachel Bilson meets MIA looks have seen her appear in Russian Vogue, and Teen Vogue named her a rising star. Evangeline channels a Coco Sumner with a touch of Georgia May Jagger. Her gap-tooth smile is unconventional and at 5ft 8in she wasn't built for the runway but following on from Vogue's recent Asian Invasion spread, her exotic looks have come at the right time. Her style is girlie grime and she's a fan of the "three-day quiff" when not working.

Lovers: Sister Bip is dating art director Johnny Lu but Evangeline is too young for boys. She needs to get her revision done first.

Hellraising: Bip DJs at Shoreditch House - favourite nightspot of Sienna Miller - and is a Mahiki regular, putting her at the centre of the party scene. Evangeline is a student at Hall School Wimbledon, fences for England and plays the ukulele. But she's already been spotted at the front row in Fashion Week.

Celeb connections: Their family is behind-the-scenes fashion royalty and Bip is big friends with Jamie Winstone and Eliza Doolittle.

Verdict: Like Kate, their beauty isn't conventional but the Ling sisters have the individuality factor. Whether they'll match Miss Moss in gossip column inches remains to be seen. 6/10.
