The Crush: Mark Carney

The fact that Mark Carney behaves like an ‘unreliable boyfriend’, as Labour MP Pat McFadden recently put it (nice quote, Pat, well done), has made us lust after the Bank of England governor. Unreliable boyfriends can be the best kind — sure, they turn up late and don’t reply to texts, but oooh, they’re reliable where it really counts, eh Pat? Carney is hands down the biggest babe in banking. Having an £800,000-a-year job that comes with the kind of power and influence House of Cards’ Frank Underwood would kill for is a bonus, but it’s his George Clooney good looks and the hot bod we just know is hiding under those Savile Row suits that really gets us crushing.

Last week, ‘Call me Mark’ gave a very politically correct answer to a Robert Peston question on mortgages and then, readers, he winked at him. Yes, Mr Governor, the Harvard-educated, ice hockey-playing, Wilderness-attending investment banking Canadian superstar winked at another man. How cheeky-slash-sexy, how deliciously naughty — even the BBC’s economics editor Peston couldn’t help but blush. Carney, it’s a shame you have a successful, attractive wife, because we’ve got all sorts of ideas for what you could do with our purse strings otherwise.
