The Crush: actress and comedian Sharon Horgan

Crush hasn’t fancied a Sharon since Basic Instinct, but as soon as Sharon Horgan stormed on to our TV screens in the sitcom Pulling in 2006, which she wrote and starred in, and which shall forever be known in South London as The Show That Made Penge Cool (for a while), we’ve been all ‘keep those legs crossed, Ms Stone, Crush has moved on’.

Horgan is a winning combination of sexy and funny — not just ‘a bit of a laugh’ but full-on-snorting hilarious. May we refer you to the recently concluded sitcom Catastrophe, in which she played the sort of woman we wish there were more of on TV — she makes mistakes (accidentally gets knocked up by a total stranger called Rob, played by Rob Delaney) but makes it work and behaves like a nice, normal person throughout, with a great line in maternity wear and witty banter.

After they first hook up, Rob calls Sharon ‘an extraordinarily good-smelling woman with a magical ass’; she calls him ‘a sturdy love-maker with a massive chin’.

Horgan is a decade older than you think she is, but doesn’t need to be attacked by a 20ft Armani cape to prove what good shape she’s in... um, hullo, have you seen the second-date sex-in-a-stairwell episode?

Catastrophe is based on Horgan’s own unexpected pregnancy, six months into her relationship with her now husband — she even admits, ‘I hated being pregnant,’ and Crush salutes such brazen taboo-busting.

When we’re not swooning over her Irish via Hackney accent (it’s dreamy), we’re fantasising about drinking Manhattans with her and Sarah Jessica Parker, for whom — STOP PRESS — Horgan has just written a comedy pilot. The show is called Divorce and we can’t wait.
