The fashion event is an exclusive affair. Only houses with a serious reputation are selected by the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture to show their work at Paris Couture Week.

Ralph & Russo - founded in 2010 by Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo - became the first British brand to be elected to show on the official schedule in 100 years.

Not only has Ralph & Russo won the approval of the esteemed Parisian body, it's also become something of a red carpet favourite, worn by stars including Angelina Jolie, Kendall Jenner and Kaia Gerber.

Meghan Markle might have chosen Givenchy for her wedding dress, but she chose to wear a sheer black Ralph & Russo gown for her official engagement portrait.

Thousands of hours of painstaking work by teams of highly skilled seamstresses are poured into each couture collection, which is then showcased to an audience of press, A-listers and high-spending private clients.

This season's Ralph & Russo show was inspired by "Latin American femininity and the stylish legacy of La Doña, the beloved Maria Felix" and featured pom-pom fringed skirts, tassels and wide-brimmed sunhats.

The colour palette showed cool mints, pale blues and creams, while black sequin frocks were framed with slashes of hot pink.

To mark the show, Ralph & Russo invited Insider into its London atelier to film one look from the collection in production: a pale mint silk satin organza gown (above and below) featuring 17,000 crystals.
