You can now stay in the real Home Alone House

Booby traps, endless mac ‘n’ cheese and tarantulas: these three things may not normally scream Christmas spirit, but they do if you’re a McCallister! And you can be one too.

For one night only, Airbnb is offering you the chance to live out your childhood festive fantasy with an overnight stay in the original Home Alone house featured in the 1990 classic.

Four lucky guests will be able to descend upon the Illinois home for an overnight stay on December 1, marking the first time it’s been opened to the public.

The lavish pad, which is located in an upper class neighbourhood in Chicago’s suburbs, will be fully decked out with Christmas wreaths, trees and stockings to get you in the festive spirit. Meanwhile, a member of the “McCallister Security team” will look after you and the home, with catering thrown in, as well as gifting you the LEGO Ideas Home Alone set. All for a mere $25 for the night.

Even better, you’ll be hosted by Buzz himself, the eldest of the McCallister clan, and one of the stars of Home Sweet Home Alone, who says: “Though we’re older and wiser now (I’ve even got my own security firm), we’re never too old for holiday hijinks. So while we’re away on vacation (all of us, this time), I’m inviting one crew of mischief makers to let their inner eight-year-olds run free in my childhood home.”

Since airing over 30 years ago, Home Alone remains one of the most iconic Christmas flicks of all time, with sequels including Home Alone 2, 3 and 4, as well as the recent reboot Home Sweet Home Alone released on Disney+. So sit back, relax and embrace the McCallister spirit whilst you binge the boxset in the real life living room.

In keeping with the festive spirit, Airbnb is making a one-time donation to La Rabida Children’s Hospital Chicago, which is a short distance from the Chicago home, to mark the occasion.
