On Saturday night, the brand-new Eastside Inn in Clerkenwell is, if not buzzing, then purring. Tasteful music plays. The sommelier decants £50 bottles of Burgundy. Diners tuck into fromage de tête with sevruga caviar. The minimum spend here is £45 for three courses, plus amuse-bouches, pre-desserts and post-desserts. At the end of the evening, the chef, Bjorn van der Horst, does a little turn around the tables to accept the compliments of the room - sincerely meant in our case.
