Which is your favourite bar? The Rivoli Bar at The Ritz for a champagne cocktail. But you have to remember to wear a suit and tie.
Who’s your hero? Isabella Blow because she taught me about Englishness and she loved beauty and elegance.
What’s the first thing you do when you arrive back in London? I relax in front of the History Channel.
What do you most like wearing? Anything in electric blue. It is an invigorating colour.
Which is your favourite shopping street? I hate shopping but I love Harrods, they invented my career. When I was a student at the Royal College of Art I won a hat competition and I started from there.
What are your favourite discoveries? Il Corriere on Elizabeth Street. It does the best egg and chips in England and is run by Diana, who is a fantastic mix of Italian and Cockney. Kim Cattrall once asked where she should go for breakfast and I sent her there. Now she is a regular and the look on the workmen’s faces when they see her is priceless.
Tell me something I don’t know about London... At one time in London there were 7,000 hat makers. Now there are only around seven.
