I have so many memories of London. I remember when I was fresh off the boat in 1992, walking through Pimlico to where I was going to live not far from Lupus Street. I was paying £50 a month for a bedsit with a bathroom in the hallway that I shared with other people. I remember it like it was yesterday. I also used to love running. I don’t run like I used to, but back then I would leave the house and run in and around London for hours non-stop. Sometimes I would go for an hour, sometimes I just wouldn’t stop. I was like Forrest Gump. I used to run everywhere: around the Embankment, in the centre, in the City. I used to love going to the Barbican at night because it’s like a modern day castle — I thought it was so romantic. I felt like an urban gazelle, totally connected with London, with the people there, with the buildings, the ground, everything. It was a very intense time.
