Why should I buy a VW Scirocco?

The Scirocco fits into a niche almost by itself. It’s the smallest coupé in VW’s range, and a sports car, and it’s also one other thing. It’s not a Golf. There are a lot of Golfs on the road, and for some the Scirocco might just be a viable alternative, and one that looks rather more sporting too.

Those sporting looks are backed up by a range of engines that really do deliver the goods. Petrol or diesel, you’ll not be shown up in a Scirocco. The Scirocco R gives you the hottest performance, but every engine lower down will deliver low running costs, from tax to fuel consumption. And when it’s time to sell it on, strong residuals will make you glad you bought it.

Despite the sporting looks, and indeed the performance to back them up, you’ll enjoy a comfortable ride as well as fine handling. And you can’t say that for all sporting cars.

The cabin is first-rate, with a fine dashboard that looks more exciting than that in a Golf. Quality of every component, every bit of design, is high. Equipment levels aren’t bad, but we’d go for GT trim or higher since that gives you parking sensors, dual-zone climate control, better cabin trim and larger alloys.
