Tiguan Coupé R for 2018

Although no official figures have been announced, it’s expected that the Tiguan Coupé R will have performance similar to the Golf R Estate, powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine in a similar state of tune to the Golf R. With a six-speed dual-clutch auto gearbox, four-wheel drive and an electronic torque vectoring function, the Tiguan Coupé R could have a 0-62mph time of 5.1sec.

Handling will be courtesy of the standard Tiguan Coupé MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension but with reduced ride height and an adaptive damping system that will set this model apart from the rest of the Tiguan line-up.

The five-seater is being developed by Volkswagen’s own R division. The Tiguan Coupé should go on sale in 2017 with the Coupé R joining it less than a year later.
