Nissan sets out electric vision

Some companies launch cars at motor shows. Nissan? Well, it’s been known to, but at Geneva this year it laid out its vision of a brave new motoring future.

This is very electric, which won’t shock you (sorry). Nissan sees wireless charging from an underground grid becoming the norm – as will car-to-grid return charging, meaning your car will be able to power your home when it’s parked.

In addition, autonomous driving technology will allow cars to take turns in charging bays while their drivers are at work or in bed.

The power for the grid will come from renewable sources, turning vehicles into green energy hubs.

Nissan is putting its money where its mouth is with this initiative, too. Its new office in France will be powered by a combination of solar panels and 64 second-life batteries from Leaf EVs.
