Lamborghini celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Mura in 2006, with this lovely 21st century reimagination. Serious collectors were lining up with the cheque books but, despite this, no more examples were ever built, sadly.
2007 Reventon
How’s this for a rare production Lamborghini – just 20 Reventon were made. Based on the Aventador, its 6.5-litre V12 was squeezed up to 641bhp, giving the F22 Raptor fighter jet-inspired car a top speed in excess of 211mph.
2008 Estoque
What could a four-door Lamborghini look like? This 2008 concept gave us a clue: less outlandish than the supercars, with a more understated look and, apparently, a more relaxing GT-like drive.
2011 Aventador LP 700-4 rolling chassis
What does an Aventador look like beneath the surface? Lamborghini created this special cutaway in 2011 to show just what lies beneath. The central cell, built in-house by Lamborghini, is made from carbonfibre and weighs 147kg; it’s attached to aluminium front and rear frames.
2012 Gallardo Super Trofeo LP570-4
If you’re rich, you can enter the Lamborghini one-make racing series. Before the current Huracan Super Trofeo Evo, this monster Gallardo Super Trofeo LP570-4 raced all around the world. It’s the real deal, too: its full aero kit could produce a massive 160kg of downforce.
2012 Urus concept
Lamborghini is soon to produce its first modern SUV: the Urus concept was, back in 2012, our first look at it. It’s taken six years to put it into production, but we still expect the real car’s twin-turbo V8 to be as potent as this concept’s 595bhp unit.
2014 Asterion LP1 910-4
The green, clean future of Lamborghini was previewed in 2014 by the Asterion. Its 5.2-litre V10 was supported by three electric motors, for a total of 898bhp and a 199mph top speed. The hybrid system boosts fuel efficiency when you’re not flat out, too.
2015 Huracan LP 580-2
The lovely rear-wheel drive version of Lamborghini’s latest supercar, the Huracan LP 580-2 was revealed at the LA motor show. It weighs less than 1400kg, making the V10 engine an even more potent performer.
