Geneva launch for hottest F-Type

Next month’s Geneva show will see the launch of Jaguar’s fastest F-Type.

And that’s 200mph’s worth of fast. The F-Type SVR runs the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 from the R AWD model, but it’s been tweaked to dish out 567bhp and 516lb ft.

Available in Coupe and Convertible forms, the SVR will be capable of a 3.7-second 0-62 time. The soft-top model can only make it to 194mph; if that puts you off, well, it’s your loss.

Continuing the R AWD theme, an eight-speed auto box sends the good stuff to all four wheels. But don’t think this is just a cosmetic exercise.

Jag’s SVR boffins have reworked the car’s body for greater aerodynamics, for example. With unique elements channelling the vehicle through the air and the air through the vehicle, that’s the most visible sign that this is no ordinary F-Type.

If you’re a bit keen, you might also spot the lightweight alloys. These are there to save weight, in this case unsprung, and further dietary measures include a titanium exhaust and carbon-ceramic rotors on the brakes.

All of which adds up to what’s likely to be about £100,000 on the screen. We’ll know for sure by summer, because that’s when the first F-Type SVRs will hit the road.
