What are the key trends for spring? No fashion-speak, please.

OK, pay attention — there will be a test. Chinos and jeans are still slim-fit with rolled turn-ups; shoes and trainers can still be worn sans socks. Slip-on sneakers are in, as are leather sandals (aka ‘mandals’). Wear with tailored shorts. Jackets, we’re looking at unstructured blazers, varsity jackets and bombers. Pattern-wise, the easy one is big horizontal stripes (T-shirts, knitwear); more challenging is floral print — think toned-down Hawaiian. Camo is still conspicuous. Judicious use of primary colour — blue, red, yellow and green — is in. So, since you’re still going to need a raincoat, make it a bright fisherman’s mac (above, Burberry Prorsum S/S 2014).
