In short: both. In less short: well done for choosing between the two must-have trainers of 2013 (ie, re-releases of 1980s and 1990s classics). Despite the slogan ‘endorsed by no one’, New Balance is now worn by everyone, so trawl aficionado websites such as Oki-ni or Endclothing to dig out rarer pairs. I like the pithily named M620GW (£89). My all-time favourite Nikes are the Air Max 1 in red and white (£95, pictured top), which look as cool now as they did in 1987. Eton’s non-iron shirts

I don’t do ironing. To iron a shirt costs me either ten very dull minutes or £1 at the dry-cleaner’s. No contest: I value my time at more than £6 an hour. But for business trips I reach for my non-iron shirts. The best I’ve come across are £110, by Eton, which has just opened a new flagship store at 53 South Molton Street, W1.
