Why do all actors
suddenly seem to have beards?
Actors with beards. Nothing new about that in a euphemistic
sense. But true, this Sunday's Oscars will be the hairiest since Anne Hathaway
and James Franco's disastrous co-hosting. Clooney (above), Cooper and Affleck
have all been caught by the fuzz recently. But beards have been big in London
for some time (see 100Beards.tumblr.com). Barbershops such as Murdock London
and Ted's Grooming Room are sprouting all over town. I'm a fan. 'He that hath
no beard is less than a man,' wrote Shakespeare. But then the Bard had a beard
— as do I — so perhaps we're biased.
