I’m weighing up my first tattoo. Should I or shouldn’t I?
Mine is a L-O-V-E/H-A-T-E attitude towards skin art. I’ve sat in a tattoo artist’s chair on three occasions — and bottled it each time. It’s not the pain so much as the permanence that puts me off. My mind changes too often to settle on an indelible design for life. What looks good now on the taut skin of a 36-year-old won’t look so cool when he hits 56, never mind 76. Even David Beckham may one day regret his 32 tattoos (number correct at time of going to press). The next big tattoo trend? Removal.
