The East Village in New York. I've lived there for ten years. All my family and friends live nearby.

Where do you stay in London?
Either at the St Martins Lane hotel or the Covent Garden Hotel. I love being near Covent Garden, it is such a cool area and I love the market.

What was the last show you saw in London?
I went to the Saatchi Gallery; it was amazing.

What advice would you give a tourist?
The traffic is terrible, so I'd advise anyone to book a taxi at least an hour in advance.

Which shops do you rely on?
I love the flagship Topshop on Oxford Circus; there's always good stuff in there. I'm a fan of Dover Street Market and there are lots of little boutiques in Bond Street that I go to. I'm more of a window-shopper; if anything catches my eye I drop in.

What's the best meal you've had in London?
I'm a vegetarian and you guys are all about the sausages, so it's pretty tough. There's one good vegetarian restaurant called Food for Thought across the road from the Covent Garden Hotel. But generally, everything is quite unhealthy.

What is your earliest London memory?
The first time I came was in 2005 to DJ and I stayed with friends I had met in New York. I had never left the States before. The first thing I thought was: 'I'm going to get hit by a car!' I kept looking the wrong way. It's a good thing it's written on the pavement or I'd have been run over.

What are you most afraid of?
I get startled really easily, so I hate horror films. I have to close my eyes when I think something is going to make me jump, because I just scream.

What are your guilty pleasures?
I can't resist French fries. Or should that be 'chips'?

What would you do as Mayor for the day?
Make all the pubs and clubs stay open until at least 4am, like in New York. Then I'd take all the cars off the street so I wouldn't get run over.

What's your life philosophy?
Live every day and don't regret anything.

What animal would you like to be?
A wolf. They are so beautiful and they get to howl.

What was the last album you downloaded?
The new Gossip album Music for Men. I'm a big fan.

What would you save from a fire?
My laptop, my passport and my black miniature dachshund, Evie.

What makes you laugh?
Evie. I've had her for three years and I still find her endlessly entertaining. I think she's smarter than most people.

What are you up to at the moment?
I'm working with the Charles Worthington salons in London. They've taught me so many hair tricks already. They are great with mixing it up a bit, but keeping my style intact.
