My body is aching from a week of filming my new TV show,

We've just heard that Fresh Meat, the Channel 4 show I'm in, about a group of university freshers, will return for a second series. We went up to Manchester to film it, which is where I went to uni, so it was fun reliving my student days, although I got more sleep as a real student. I had to film a lot of embarrassing scenes with my arse out. The crew didn't make any effort to put me at my ease, but I managed to make everyone else feel uncomfortable by threatening a full frontal. The producer pulled me aside to explain that total exposure is against protocol.

It was weird going back to film in all the clubs and bars where I used to go; I had to behave a lot better this time round. We were also there during the riots and had to barricade ourselves in the hotel, surviving on food and drink from the minibar, as it all kicked off outside our window. I was protective over the cast, telling them that everything was going to be OK and giving them motherly hugs.

Up in Edinburgh this year I did a show called Back Chat with my dad, who's a retired theatre producer. I talk about him so much on stage that I thought he should at least have the right to reply. He totally upstaged me. One of our first guests was Greg McHugh, who plays my co-star Howard in Fresh Meat. He was hilarious because he did the whole thing in the character of a very camp Scottish army tank commander. He was a wild ball of energy and my dad didn't understand a word he was saying because he has such a thick Scottish accent. Miranda Hart was also a guest. Dad tried to get me to marry her. He was like, 'Miranda is a good, successful woman. This is the kind of woman you should be wedding. Not the slatterns that you bring back, Jack.' She seemed quite up for it so I'd say an engagement is pending.

I'm supposed to be flat hunting, but because I've been on tour and filming I haven't had much time to fit in viewings, so my mum has been looking for me. She started in North London, which soon turned into Central London and then West London. I worked out that with every viewing she was trying to bring me closer to home. The last viewing, in Putney, was literally down the road from their house. I'll probably end up renting one of the rooms in their house and she'll show me round, claiming that it's in a very up-and-coming area.

I was in LA for the first time recently and met Zach Galifianakis at the premiere of The Hangover Part II. I hadn't actually seen the film when I went up to talk to him, so I had to blag it a bit and tell him how brilliant it was, but I did love the first film. He told me he wants to come to London and open a fish and chip shop called Fish Upon a Star. He's keen to manage it because he thinks he looks like a sea captain. I told him I'd be willing to invest if he needs a backer.

At a gig in Warwick the other day someone threw a pair of pants on to the stage with their number written on them. I gave them to my tour manager Freddie because I was too scared to call - they were big, brand-new lady pants. I'm not saying I would have preferred them to have been worn, but isn't that meant to be the point if you throw your knickers? In order to feel like I've made it as a comedy pin-up I think I need more than just one lady flinging a pair. I need a cluster of pants, or at least enough to make up a multi-pack.
