Oh crikey! It seems Pippa Middleton, pictured, has gone all Kim Kardashian on us again. Witness her latest attempt at down-with-the-kids hairstyling: a slick(ish) side ponytail. Once the preserve of plucky schoolgirls with thigh-high mini-skirts and a point to prove, this side-sweeping ’do is not one that’s enjoyed much hairtime on Planet Posh. (Though incidentally Victoria Beckham is a fan.)
Of course, the side pony’s emergence onto the streets of SW1 — and the right bank of Paris, where Ms Middleton was sporting the style this weekend — is far from surprising when you consider the number of Fulham and Chelsea residents who turned out to watch the Olympics dressage. What could be more inspiring than a horse in pigtails, let alone one that leaps over each gate with its side pony blowing in the breeze? If emulating Pippa’s look is something you are set on doing, may I suggest you do as she did not by selecting a hairtie that matches your hair. Better still, opt for one that’s transparent. Oh, and get a good trim first: a side ponytail is one thing but a side rats-tail is another entirely.
