I have two heroes. One is Winston Churchill, the other is my mother, Judes Becher. They had something in common: the ability to Keep Buggering On. My mother was a superwoman. She ran our family's joinery company, Becher Joinery, as well as youth clubs, charities, homes in Hampshire and Andalucia, and animals (two dogs, two donkeys, 20 chickens and Sandro, her horse). And she ran the family: my father Richard, my brother Anthony and me.
