Get into the festive spirit at Center Parcs

There is nothing like the allure of a fun-filled Winter Wonderland break at Center Parcs to enthral your little ones. In the winter months the enchanting tranquillity of 400 acres of environmentally-friendly forest, with lakes, streams and wildlife, provides the perfect setting for a festive family short break. Youngsters can enjoy a pony ride through the forest and visit Santa’s Woodland Workshop. The whole family can also meet some of his reindeer before the big day and discover how they live and what they eat. And if it’s cold outside, the entire family can unleash their artistic powers at the Christmas-themed pottery painting class. There is a range of fantastic festive activities to delight every member of the family whatever their age.

There are over 200 indoor and outdoor activities on offer, varying from family adventures to calming or creative experiences. It is also the perfect time to get up close and personal with nature. Wrap up warmly and take a walk or ride a bike through the forest (Center Parcs is a traffic-free zone) and see how many different types of wildlife you can discover. Or, alternatively take a horse and carriage ride and simply soak up the atmosphere.

You can enjoy the spectacular Subtropical Swimming Paradise, which has indoor and outdoor pools, chutes, whirlpools and wave machines (all heated to a balmy 29.5C). Toddlers and small children have their own specially designated area where they can build up their aquatic skills.

No trip would be complete without a dip in the outdoor pool where the steam rises under the stars. Afterwards treat everybody to a mug of steaming hot chocolate at Starbucks.

But, sometimes you need a little time out to do your own thing. Mums and dads can relax and unwind at the Aqua Sana spa where they can discover World of Spa experiences or choose from an extensive range of treatments. For little ones, there are plenty of professionally supervised indoor and outdoor winter activities. From the nerve-jangling Tree Trekking and travelling down the zip wires to the excitement of quad biking to rather more tranquil nature walks and decorating cup cakes, there is plenty of opportunity for them to learn and develop new skills. Fun and relaxation are on the menu for all the family at the Christmas pantomime.

If, after an action-packed day, you fancy eating out rather than staying in your lodge and ordering the Dining In service or cooking, you will find an excellent selection of cafés and restaurants offering fine food and festive cheer. Particular favourites with children are The Pancake House and Huck’s Bar and Grill, an American-style restaurant, which are both unique to Center Parcs. If you fancy trying something di_ erent, there’s plenty of choice. Whether it’s Italian, French or Indian cuisine you’re after, there’s a mouth-watering selection, just a short walk from your lodge.

The highlight of a Winter Wonderland break has to be the legendary Center Parcs fireworks spectacular across the lake. Join in with the choir to sing Christmas carols before being dazzled by a spellbinding firework display.
