Wardrobe reboot: London's best grey coats

Transition, transition transition. We know we've been harping on about this 'in-between seasons' lark for what feels like a season itself, but it's a style skill you have to master if you want to stride into Autumn sans goosebumps or, god forbid, sweat patches.

Walking to the tube station at 7am, you're in your sheer shirt and you're shivvering. Dreaming of it's smotheringly-cuddly nature, you remind yourself to dig out your winter coat and wrap yourself in it tomorrow.

Tomorrow, you're on the tube in your shirt and cuddly-coat, ten thousand bodies pressed up against you and you're sweltering. But there's no stretch-space to take it off. Even if there were, there's not even room to hold it in front of you.

Sound familiar? Well that's where transitional dressing comes in.

It's important, with the combination of London's unpredictable weather, stuffy tubes and over-enthusiastic office air-con, to be prepared. Layers are your best friend during this period, and with the top layer, the coat of course, it's important to keep it light in either weight or colour - or both - to avoid looking like you're kicking-off the Christmas shopping already.

Grey is a great colour for Autumn, as its monochrome nature reaches away from fresh summer hues, while diluting the wintery-vibe by being a slightly pastel version of black.
