Leading the charge for British celebrities in 2012 were fashion big-hitters the Duchess of Cambridge, Victoria Beckham and Kate Moss.

But snapping closely at their heels were the twentysomething brigade - Carey Mulligan, Poppy Delevigne, Emma Watson and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley - who all flexed their fashion muscles with stunning red carpet outfits. Designers were falling over themselves to dress them.

Across the pond, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Bosworth and Diane Kruger continued to score high in the fashion stakes. Perennial favourites Chanel, Armani and Prada made regular appearances at parties and premieres, with more offbeat designers like Preen, Brood and Prabal Gurang getting the odd moment in the limelight too.
