Jonathan Saunders to close eponymous label

London Fashion Week designer Jonathan Saunders has taken the decision to close his eponymous label following twelve years in business.

The Scottish designer, who studied at Glasgow’s prestigious School of Art and at London’s Central Saint Martin’s, announced that his company, backed by investor Eiesha Bharti Pasricha, would cease to exist once its spring/summer 16 orders were completed.

Saunders, who is revered for his canny approach to colour and print said “personal reasons” lay behind his decision to close the brand.

"It is not a decision that I take lightly and I am eternally grateful to my team for all their hard work and dedication" he said.

He also paid tribute to Bharti Pasricha who invested in the business in January of this year.

"Eiesha has not only been a fantastic partner over the last year, but an incredible support and we remain close. I am very thankful for all of the friends that I have across the industry”.

Saunders is said to have reached a decision along with his Bharti Pasricha. She said: "our decision to part ways was not easy and I wish Jonathan every success for the future." Bharti Pasricha will continue her business partnership with Serbian designer Roksanda Ilincic.
