My girlfriend [model Hayley Roberts] once took me to Danesfield House, a beautiful old spa hotel overlooking the Thames, with a golf course and sheep. It was just bliss.
Best thing a London cabbie has said to you?
I mainly get: ‘I grew up with you’; ‘You were part of my childhood’; ‘Can you talk to my missus on the phone?’

Ozwald Boateng on Savile Row — he’s the best suit-maker in the world.

My father, who was the most outgoing, coolest guy you could meet.

Yes, twice, and they both wanted to take a photo with me.

Muse’s Drones. I like heavy stuff.
Building you’d like to be locked in overnight?
Buckingham Palace. I met Diana years ago, with Prince William and Prince Harry. I gave them Knight Rider and Baywatch pictures.
Best meal in London?
The scallops at Chino Latino on the South Bank blew me away. I find Asian fusion cuisine really hits the spot.
Building you’d like to buy?
The National Gallery. It looks so grand and European on the outside and then you turn and see a Monet and a Van Gogh before you even properly get in the door. There’s so much culture and beauty in one place.
Favourite club?
I’m a bit too old for clubs. But if I go for promotional events and sing the Baywatch tune, everyone takes their top off. I don’t get it.
What do you collect?
German, Austrian and Russian police hats.
Biggest extravagance?
Taking part in the Gumball Rally every year, in a car based on KITT from Knight Rider. It’s the most amazing week.
What would you do as Mayor?
Tell everyone to take the day off, sit in the sun and just talk to each other. There’s not much of that spirit in London now.
Best place to let your hair down?
The Whitehouse Apartments on the South Bank are always good for house parties.
Best place for a first date?
A nice stroll in St James’s Park in the sun, after a full English breakfast at a local café.
