The modern ponytail is the hot hair trend from LFW: how to get the look

Autumn/Winter 2016 is emerging as the time to take a new stance on the modern ponytail. At London Fashion Week AW16, there were were messy ponytails, ponytails wrapped in metal detail and even ‘doubled up’ ponytails, but one thing they all had in common is that they weren’t too high or too low - it’s more about the tail and less the perfect pony.

The hair at Roksanda was “simplicity is beauty” and Mark Hampton from Toni&Guy used double ties to guarantee that pony tails stayed in place.

“The key to making this ponytail look so beautiful is to ensure that it sits below the base of the hairline,” he says.

Barbara Casasola’s doubled-up ponytails by L’Oreal’s Adam Reed emerged as the key look: effortless, chic and with a relaxed feel. Paul Smith and J.JS Lee also offered their own versions.

The Paul Smith ponytail was cinched at the nape of the neck with a fine double metal hair accessory and J.JS Lee’s show models had silky, healthy and shiny hair with a simple black tassel accessory.
